How many tourists visit Montenegro? In 2025, Montenegro recorded 2,728,564 tourist arrivals and 15,367,166 overnight stays, according to the statistical office Monstat. Foreign visitors made 95.8% of the nights, led by Serbia with 23.4% and Russia with 16.4%, and 92.6% of all nights were spent on the coast. That is about 4.4 arrivals for every resident.
The figures below come from Monstat's releases for the full year 2025, which count both hotels and private accommodation, and its monthly releases for hotels and other collective accommodation in 2026, checked on 25 September 2026.

A visitor stayed 5.6 nights on average in 2025. By type of place, coastal resorts had 92.6% of nights, mountain resorts 2.8%, the capital Podgorica 2.7% and other places 2.0%.

These monthly figures cover hotels, resorts, guesthouses, hostels and similar collective accommodation only, not private flats and rooms, so they are lower than the yearly totals. From January to July 2026, collective accommodation recorded 859,451 arrivals and 2,942,873 nights. In July, 91.6% of hotel nights were by foreign guests and 92.4% were on the coast.
How many come by cruise ship?
Cruise passengers are counted separately, because they do not stay overnight on land. In 2025, 496 foreign cruise ship calls brought 630,236 passengers to Montenegro, most of them to Kotor. What does this mean if you let a flat?
Demand is concentrated in a short summer season on the coast: July alone brought more than a million hotel nights, while January had fewer than 75,000.
