How to check a company in Montenegro 2026: the CRPS register search, company status, register extracts and checking blocked accounts at the Central Bank

Data in Montenegro's Central Register of Business Entities (CRPS) is public and can be searched free of charge on the IRMS portal of the Revenue and Customs Administration, by name, registration number, tax number (PIB) or the name of a person in the company. The register also shows the company status, for example whether it is active, inactive because it did not file its financial statements, in liquidation or deleted. Whether a company is blocked can be checked daily at the Central Bank of Montenegro, and the Central Bank issues a written confirmation that a company is not blocked for 5 euros.

Where do you search the CRPS?

• Since 1 January 2026 the CRPS has been kept under the Law on the Registration of Business and Other Entities, as a single public electronic database, and it is run by the tax authority, the Revenue and Customs Administration.
• The search is on the IRMS portal, under Register search: enter the company name, registration number, tax or company ID number, a personal identification number or the name of a person in the company.
• The result shows the registration number, change number, tax number, name, legal form, activity code and status.
• The Case search option is for tracking a registration application that is being processed.
• The old address crps.me is no longer the register's website, so do not enter any data there.

What does the company status mean?

• When a company files its late financial statements, the register restores the active status within three working days, and it publishes the list of inactive companies on its website.

What does the CRPS publish?

• The business name, legal form, activity code and description, registration number, tax number, founding and change dates, registered seat and address for official mail.
• The amount of registered share capital.
• People in the company: name, role, share and whether their power of representation is individual or joint, limited or unlimited.
• The founding act, articles and their amendments, annual financial statements, data on liquidation or bankruptcy and on disqualified directors.

Anyone who relies in good faith on the public CRPS data is protected, and if data used in business differs from the entry, the CRPS entry counts as correct. A CRPS extract is a public document showing the data at the time of issue; it is issued on request within 30 days, for a fee set by the Government.

How do you check whether a company is blocked?

1. The Central Bank's Search of debtors in enforced collection page shows the daily blocking status of each enforcement debtor.
2. Once a month the Central Bank also publishes a list of blocked companies and sole traders in PDF and Excel; the latest shows the status on 31 August 2026.
3. When a company is blocked, all its accounts at all banks are blocked, and banks may not open a new account for it.
4. For a written confirmation that a company is not blocked, send a request to the Central Bank's archive, by post or to arhiva@cbcg.me, with proof of paying the 5 euro fee.

• Sole traders' registration numbers are not published on the list, because their accounts are kept under citizens' personal identification numbers.
• According to the Central Bank's overview, 33,804 debtors have been in continuous blockade for more than a year, with about 3.39 billion euros owed in total.
