Montenegro Pension Payment Dates 2026: When Each Month's Payment Starts, an Average Pension of 561 Euros, How Much the Pension Fund Pays and When the Next Pension Arrives

Montenegro's Pension and Disability Insurance Fund (Fond PIO) pays the pension for the previous month, and payment starts on the 19th of the month, or on the Friday before when the 19th falls on a weekend. The pension for August 2026 is paid from 18 September, and the average pension is 561.34 euros. For all pension and disability insurance benefits for August the Fund sets aside 69.16 million euros, 2.9% more than for August 2025. If the schedule holds, the September pension arrives from 19 October 2026.

When were pensions paid in 2026?

• Until February 2026 the Fund published two averages: the average pension without calculated differences and the average paid pension including calculated differences, shown in brackets. Since March it publishes one figure.
• On 17 April, 17 July and 18 September payment started on a Friday, because the 19th of those months fell on a weekend.
• For August 2025 the Fund set aside about 67.24 million euros, so the amount for August 2026 is 1.92 million euros higher.
• The figure in the payment notice is not the same as the statistical average of all pension types, which was 550.72 euros for August 2026.

When does the next pension arrive?

• These dates are estimates based on the schedule so far, and the Fund announces the exact date on the day payment starts.
• The pension is paid in arrears, so the money for one month arrives in the following month.

How are pensions indexed in 2026?

• Pensions are indexed three times a year, from 1 January, 1 May and 1 September, using the formula in Article 58 of the law, which combines consumer prices and average wages based on MONSTAT data.
• From 1 January 2026 pensions rose by 0.38%, and the value of one personal point is 11.94475 euros. The decision applied to the January pension, paid in February.
• From 1 May 2026 the indexation was 0.95%, and from 1 September 2025 it was 1.98%.
• The three indexations from September 2025 to May 2026 together raised pensions by about 3.3%, while annual inflation in August 2026 was 4.5%.
• By 29 September the Fund had not published the decision on indexation from 1 September 2026. Last year the decision came on 2 October and applied to the September pension, paid in October.

What if the pension does not arrive?

• Recipients abroad send a life certificate by the end of April, and children aged 19 or over with a survivor's pension send a schooling certificate by 1 October; without the certificate the Fund suspends payment.
• The recipient reports a change of address or other details that affect payment to the Fund within 15 days.
• Missed amounts are paid later, but for no more than 12 months back from the request.
• If enforcement is under way against the recipient, a bailiff may seize no more than a third of the pension since 28 May 2026.
