Herceg Novi sits at the entrance to the Bay of Kotor, and its main sights are the Kanli Kula and Forte Mare fortresses, the Clock Tower, the Church of St Michael the Archangel on Belavista square, the House of Nobel laureate Ivo Andrić and Savina Monastery. A ticket for Kanli Kula, Forte Mare or the Andrić House costs 4 euros, and 3 euros per person for groups of 10 or more. From 25 June 2026 the fortresses are open daily from 9 to 21 h, and the Andrić House from 9 to 22 h. The fortresses and the Andrić House are run by JUK Herceg Fest, which shortens the hours in winter.

What is there to see in the Old Town?
- The Clock Tower was built in 1667, is 16 metres high and was the main city gate, and today it appears on the town's coat of arms and flag.
- In the Clock Tower passage stands a statue of the Virgin made of charred wood, which tradition links to the fighting between Venetians and Ottomans in 1687.
- Kanli Kula, the "bloody tower", was built in 1539 at the northernmost point of the Old Town, 85 metres above sea level, and served as a prison under Ottoman rule from 1482 to 1687.
- Forte Mare guards the town's sea entrance, was built from the 14th to the 17th century, and owes its present look to the Austro-Hungarians.
- The Church of St Michael the Archangel on Belavista square was built from 1883 to 1905 to a design by Milan Karlovac and consecrated in 1911.
- The Španjola fortress was put up by the Spanish in 1538, and the Ottomans rebuilt it from 1539 to 1548.
Which museums are there?
- The "Mirko Komnenović" City Museum opened in 1953 in a late 18th-century house left to the town by a former mayor.
- The museum keeps historical, archaeological, ethnological and icon collections, including works of the Dimitrijević-Rafailović icon school from Risan.
- The Ivo Andrić House was built in 1962 and 1963 to a design by Vojislav Đokić, and the Nobel laureate lived there with his wife Milica Babić from 1963 to 1968.
- The house was restored from 2018 to 2020 through a European Union IPA project.
What does Savina Monastery keep?
- The monastery lies 2 kilometres east of the centre and consists of two churches dedicated to the Dormition of the Virgin, the monastic lodgings with a treasury and the Church of St Sava on a nearby hill.
- The treasury holds the crystal cross of St Sava from the 13th century, a reliquary of Tvrdoš Monastery from 1615, an epitaphios from 1642 and a portrait of the Russian Tsar Peter the Great.
