Is the Tara Bridge open? No. The Đurđevića Tara bridge on the Pljevlja-Žabljak road (M-6) is closed to all vehicles and pedestrians from 10 August 2026 at 06:00 until 26 October 2026 at 12:00 while its deck is rebuilt. Drivers should use the alternative Vrulja-Mijakovići road. Lorries and vehicles over 3.5 tonnes may not cross until the whole reconstruction is finished.
The bridge is one of the best-known sights in northern Montenegro, 172 metres above the Tara river. The closure details come from the Traffic Administration (Uprava za saobraćaj) and the automobile association AMSCG, checked on 25 September 2026.

The Traffic Administration said the complete closure was timed so that all work requiring it would be finished before winter, when bad weather could slow it down.

When it was finished it was the largest concrete arch road bridge in Europe. The 1942 sabotage, carried out with the help of the bridge engineer Lazar Jauković, was the subject of the 1969 Yugoslav film Most (The Bridge).
How do you see the Tara canyon?
The Tara canyon is about 82 kilometres long and up to 1,333 metres deep, and 60 kilometres of it lie within Durmitor National Park.
