The chosen doctor (izabrani doktor) is the GP at a public health centre with whom you are registered and who treats you, prescribes medicines, signs you off sick and refers you to specialists. You choose from the list of chosen doctors for at least one year by signing a declaration of choice, and before the year is up you can only change in the cases set out in the rulebook, stating a reason. You book appointments with your chosen doctor in person, by phone or online on the eZdravlje portal, for which you need a PIN from the Health Insurance Fund. Online you can book every type of visit except preventive check-ups for children, routine vaccinations and home visits.

Which chosen doctors do you have?

- You choose the doctor yourself, from the list of chosen doctors at the health centre.
- When your chosen doctor is away, for example on annual leave or sick leave, the health centre provides a substitute doctor.
How do you choose and change your chosen doctor?
- You choose for at least one year by completing and signing the Declaration of Choice or Change of Chosen Doctor.
- Before the year is up you can change doctor in the cases set out in the rulebook, stating the reason in the declaration.
- For an insured person under 15 or a person under guardianship, the parent or guardian chooses the doctor.
- Anyone who has not chosen a doctor cannot use the eZakazivanje and eNaručivanje services on the eZdravlje portal.
What does the chosen doctor do?
- prevention and health promotion;
- diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation, treatment at the patient's home and pain relief;
- certifies temporary incapacity for work, that is sick leave;
- prescribes medicines;
- refers patients to the secondary and tertiary level, that is to specialists and hospitals, after a work-up in their own practice;
- issues travel orders related to using health care.
How do you get a PIN and log in to eZdravlje?
- You log in to www.ezdravlje.me or the eZdravlje.me mobile app with your health booklet number, the ten-digit number on its first page, and a PIN code.
- If you have verified your new ID card as a health insurance card, you log in with the ID card number, and the booklet number no longer works for login.
- You get the PIN at a regional unit or branch of the Fund, or request it electronically on the portal.
- For a minor, the PIN is collected by a parent or other legal representative.
What can you book online?
- The eZakazivanje service books visits to the chosen doctor for adults, for women and for children at health centres, and lets you check, cancel or change appointments.
- You cannot book preventive check-ups online, that is children's clinics and routine immunisations, or home visits by chosen doctors.
- The portal also offers eRecept, eNalaz, eApoteka, eOsiguranje, eNaručivanje and a vaccination record.
- In Podgorica the Capital City Health Centre runs a call centre on 19816, on working days from 7 to 21 h, where you can find out which shift your chosen doctor works and book an appointment.
